Lake Rotoroa

LAKE ROTOROA. Part of the Nelson Lakes National Park. SH6, turn off at Gowan Bridge, a few K,s past

Kawatiri Junction. Gowan Valley Rd, sealed, to the end at the Lake.

Small DOC camp, we park in the camp area, and relocate to the Lakefront for breakfast. Many overnight in that very place, so your own call. You are right into sandfly heaven here, so screens, and repellent a must.

Very picturesque, quiet, good trout fishing, complete with guides if needed. Water, toilets, low cost.

Walks. The short loop 25mins, and the Braeburn Walk (2hr return) are both excellent, lots of bird life, and

native forest, esp. Beech. and some fine ferns.

Got a height of 442m so can be a bit cool.
