Brightwater

 

BRIGHTWATER: Take SH6 S of Nelson about 18k, watch for a hotel on left hand corner, and opposite that is Ellis Street which leads to the small village of Brightwater.

 

Carry on past shops, which then becomes Waimea West Road, to a church on the right at No.66. (Don't get fooled by what looks like a church in the village). A short access way right before the graveyard leads around the back of the Vickerage to a DOC reserve with toilets. Also known as Snowdons Bush.

 

A wonderfully quiet parkover amongst a stand of mature totara, complete with mistletoe, not known to many people, which is a plus. Coordinates  Nearest Dump site back in Nelson.
